On February 11, 2026, students majoring in Psychology and faculty members of the Department of General Scientific, Social, and Behavioral Disciplines of the Odesa Institute of IAPM took part in a guest lecture titled “The Lens of Barrier-Free Communication” as an essential approach in the professional practice of psychologists working with clients facing challenging life circumstances. Participation in the event provided valuable practical experience for students, contributed to the development of their professional competencies, and deepened their understanding of contemporary standards of psychological support.
The event was organized by Iryna Ostopolets, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology at Bohdan Khmelnytsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University.
The invited speaker — Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Formation and Development of Professional Competence of Personnel of the State Criminal Executive Service of Ukraine, coach, psychologist, and trainer in educational, psychological, and coaching practices — presented a comprehensive overview of modern approaches to building barrier-free communication in professional psychological activity. The lecture addressed practical aspects of establishing trust-based relationships with clients experiencing crisis and trauma, outlined effective tools for supporting individuals in difficult life situations, and emphasized the importance of maintaining professional resilience, empathy, and personal resourcefulness.
The event contributed to the professional enrichment of students and faculty members, expanded their practical experience, and reinforced the values of inclusivity and barrier-free interaction within the academic environment.
